Our Mission
The Andrew K. Dwyer Foundation is a 501c(3) organization created to honor Andrew’s enthusiasm for life and concern for others by aiding less advantaged children. The Foundation provides scholarships and funding for a broad range of extracurricular activities while encouraging young people to volunteer their time in support of the Foundation’s mission.
Our Impact
OUR CAUSES
Since its inception over 20 years ago, the AKDF has been focused on providing opportunities to deserving young people across a broad spectrum of needs. Whether the grant is for scholarships for inner city children, community athletic programs, support for organizations like The First Tee and Grassroots, or programs engaging children with severe health challenges- the common denominator is our confidence that the AKDF is making a difference in a child’s life. Thank you all for your support, enabling the AKDF to touch thousands of lives.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
The AKDF has no paid employees, and except for web services and tax compliance, all of its administration is on a volunteer basis. It remains fundamental to the AKDF mission that its grants have a champion who not only advocates but is personally involved with the funded charity. AKDF is hands on, not simply to ensure its funds are wisely spent, but to provide a lasting positive impact on all its charities.
OUR VOLUNTEERS
Encouraging participation is critical to our mission and success. The Foundation now counts over 5,000 people who have helped build the Foundation and support its mission for over the last 22 years. We encourage those with energy and ideas to contact Board members about your willingness and dreams. Each year we celebrate our volunteers with a new Doggday hat- to follow their journey please take a look at “Where in the World are the Doggday Hats?”

DOGGDAY 2025 ANOTHER GREAT DAY, THANK YOU ALL!
It was a spectacular Indian Summer day, not a cloud in the sky as 90 golfers and 18 tennis players arrived at the Bedford Golf and Tennis Club to celebrate Doggday2025. Our 22nd Doggday certainly did not disappoint as old friends and new joined in an afternoon of joyful competition to celebrate Andrew’s life and legacy with laughter and camaraderie.
AKDF makes an initial gift to Able Athletics, a charitable organization specializing in programs for children with learning, attention, and physical and intellectual differences.
THE ANDREW K. DWYER AWARD
The Andrew K. Dwyer Foundation has always been a volunteer organization. It has only been due to the extraordinary time commitments, creativity, and financial generosity that the Foundation has grown and prospered. The Foundation has honored some of our wonderful volunteers who have been instrumental to our success.
